From Drew Barrymore to Lady Gaga, more and more celebrities are joining the beauty industry. While we used to see them as the faces of well-known cosmetics lines, these stars are taking center stage by releasing products under their own brands. With all the other established makeup companies out there, these A-listers are serving up a stiff competition with gorgeous palettes.

Let’s take a look at some of them.

Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore

One of the first celebrities to enter the makeup scene was Charlie’s Angels star, Drew Barrymore. After introducing a range of cosmetics in 2013, the actress-slash-director-slash-author shows no signs of slowing down or quitting the industry.

And get this:

While other celebrity beauty lines may be on the expensive side, Flower Beauty is exceptionally budget-friendly. Surprisingly, it’s a drugstore brand. Product prices range from $5 to $19.

Wait, did you read that correctly?

Yep, a celebrity-launched cosmetics brand where everything is under $20. Score!

Some of those affordable and animal-friendly palettes are these favorites:

Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette in Sunkissed Shimmer

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2IKCkuHe5l/

The sculpting trend has gotten big in the past years. But for those who don’t want to reach for that contour stick, strobing has become the new go-to. Highlighters have thus become a staple for our makeup bags.

Flower Beauty has dived into the trend and provided for all our highlighter obsession needs. For $14, you get to pick between two variations to the palette, and we’re in love with Sunkissed Shimmer.

The palette gives you three shades:

  • a beautiful rose gold,
  • a shimmery champagne gold,
  • and a darker mocha-colored shimmer.

Shimmer & Shade Eyeshadow Palette in Sun’s Blazing

Before launching her highlighting palette that’s similarly named, Drew Barrymore released the Shimmer & Shade eyeshadow palette.

You get ten shades per palette, which includes both shimmer and matte shadows. This range makes it versatile, meaning you can go from an office-friendly day look to a fun girls-night-out vibe.

The palette is priced at only $16 and is available in six different variations. One of our favorites is the Sun’s Blazing palette. A collection of warm browns, oranges, plums, and golds, it’s especially great for warm-skinned ladies. It’s fun to use as a summer and autumn palette because of the colors.

And here’s a bonus:

Many of us toss out or skip the applicator that comes with most eyeshadow palettes. However, the $6 brush that comes with the palette is surprisingly good quality! It’s the same brush you can get from the rest of the line.

Honest Beauty by Jessica Alba

Actress Jessica Alba launched The Honest Company, carrying an array of eco-friendly baby products. She introduced Honest Beauty three years later in 2015, offering a whopping 83-product line.

The cosmetics line has since relaunched, scrapping some of its other products. Of the new ones, the eyeshadow palette is gorgeous as well. Take a look at this:

Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette

The cosmetics line’s sole eyeshadow palette gives you ten beautiful shades. These pigmented shadows include both neutral and warm colors, giving you an excellent variety with which to work.

These colors include:

  • Soft Bronze
  • Sunlit Copper
  • Iced Cotton
  • Matte Plum
  • Chromed Petal
  • Vanilla’d Latte
  • Guilded Mauve
  • Burnt Mocha
  • Magnetic Ink.

It also includes a show-stopping shade!

Strobed Champagne is an eye-catching copper color with a shimmer. It’s a great choice to put on your lid to make it pop, and it matches well with the other transition colors of the palette.

Victoria Beckham Beauty

Does Victoria Beckham still need an introduction? To nobody’s surprise, our beloved Posh Spice has joined the celebrity makeup trend and dropped her line in late 2019.

Now offering eyes, lips, and more products, the cosmetics range is sure to grow in the new decade. Victoria Beckham Beauty also joins the lineup of clean beauty brands.

Check out the eyeshadow palette we love:

Smoky Eye Brick in Royal

Available in four variants, the Smoky Eye Brick in Royal sets itself apart. While we’re all used to seeing nude palettes—as often sported by Posh Spice herself—this one comes with striking blue shades.

The eyeshadow palette has four shades: cerulean, marine, denim, and creme. Each color is especially pigmented and easily blendable. Based on the swatches on their promotional photos, they suit different skin tones.

Whether you’re fair-skinned or have a beautiful tan, you can enjoy feeling like the sophisticated Spice Girls member.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Although not your traditional film and TV celebrity, there’s no denying that much of the Internet is familiar with online celebrity Jeffree Star.

Once a singer-songwriter on MySpace, Jeffree has since turned to the beauty world—and seemingly dominated it. Founding his own independent company, he launched Jeffree Star Cosmetics in 2014, using his own life savings.

Has it paid off?

Seeing as the beauty empire makes over an average of $100 million annually, we think the career change was more than a smart choice. The line carries cruelty-free vegan lip products, makeup palettes, and even accessories.

From eyeshadows and highlighters, here are the ones we’re most obsessed with:

Jawbreaker Palette

The cosmetics brand’s biggest palette (so far), Jawbreaker, features a rainbow array of 24 bright eyeshadows. Just imagine how many makeup looks you can create with this powerhouse! You can even use it for Halloween.

Inspired by hard candies, the palette mimics the colors of these sugary treats. Let’s run down the shades.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1W9Nm6l2rH/

We have two white colors called Virgin and Jawbreaker. The two sweet yellows are Wow and Lemon Drop.

It also features five pink variations:

  • Good Morning
  • Bubblegum
  • F*ck
  • Snack
  • Cotton Candy

For your warm reds, oranges, and purples, we have:

  • Suck
  • Licorice
  • And What?
  • Orange Juice
  • Raspberry
  • Cherry Wet

Your cooler-shade greens and blues include

  • Cute
  • Gum Drop
  • Brain Freeze
  • Sour
  • Soaked
  • Bite Me
  • Delicious.

Rounding up the palette are Tasty and Cone.

The range, boasting intense pigmentation, includes matte, shimmer, and metallic formulations. Bolder than your everyday palette, the start-stamped eyeshadows are a fun addition to those who want to play up their look.

Platinum Ice Pro Palette

Ice Queen Elsa would kill for a palette like this. The Platinum Ice Skin Frost Pro Palette features six icy cool-toned highlighters. Five out of the six shades are the same formulation as the other highlighters in the brand. However, Pink Chill has a brand-new formula and works as a “highlighter topper” and gives off a more subtle, sheer glow for those who don’t want a blinding highlight.

Other shades include Ice Cold, an icy white color, Glacier, a silvery shimmer, and Canary Bling, a reflective yellow. The palette also has Lavender Snow, a purple shade, and Alien Ice, which features a green tint.

You can use each shade dry or wet to add intensity. Take a brush and add the highlighter to your cheekbones, nose bridge, brow bones, and even on your body for a blinding glow.

But here’s a word of caution:

The product has a soft buttery formula, so be careful when handling that palette!

Platinum Ice is seemingly so well-received that the website limits buyers to two palettes per customer. Get to it if you want to grab one for yourself!

Mini Controversy Palette

In the celebrity world, collaborations are a common thing. It’s especially popular among YouTubers. So it’s no surprise that beauty vlogger Jeffree Star released a collaboration with YouTube veteran Shane Dawson.

The Shane x Jeffree Collection features six liquid lipsticks, makeup pouches, two eyeshadow palettes, and more.

While the Conspiracy Palette is gorgeous as well, we’d like to feature the small eyeshadow compact from the collab:

The Mini Controversy Palette has nine eyeshadows. The only one it has in common with Conspiracy is Diet Root Beer, making it a great choice of a palette on its own.

Controversy features three blue colors—two matte and one shimmer. It also includes two purple shades called Exposed and the other one named after the palette. Cry on My Couch is your staple beige/bone, while Diet Root Beer is a pretty orange-brown color.

The two shades that we’re excited for are My Boyfriend’s Purse, a beautiful moonlight silver shade, and My Apology, a shimmery burgundy.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

Would a celebrity makeup line list be complete without mentioning Fenty? Award-winning singer and actress Rihanna sets the bar for not only celeb cosmetics but also other established makeup brands.

Trademarking her surname, Rihanna launched the beauty line in 2017. Fenty first dropped their foundation featuring a fantastic range of 40 shades—something no other makeup brand has ever done.

She continues the line with lipsticks, highlighters, eyeshadows, primers, brushes, and so many more. But these palettes are especially divine:

Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Palette

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6faokChma-/

This limited-edition palette broke the Internet with seven brand-new shades to add to the Fenty line of highlighters. Bringing together both warm and cool tones, it makes for a fun palette for both cool- and warm-toned ladies.

Stone Cold and Chillz are both very light-colored shimmers for that blinding highlight. Scandal’ice is a pretty shade with a lavender-blue undertone. Hunny Slope is a beautiful warm orange alongside copper shade Coppin Ice. Heart Burn is a shimmery purple, and Subzero rounds up the palette with a gorgeous blue shade.

Each shade is as pigmented as the other highlighters from the beauty line, which have made it to several top beauty lists online.

Moroccan Spice Palette

The brand markets this as Rihanna’s personal favorite, and for a good reason:

The eyeshadow palette has 16 long-wearing shades. It mixes mattes with shimmers, giving you endless makeup looks.

Moroccan-inspired, the colors include Mo’Rockin Ice, a light beige, Mirage, a warm peach, and Casablanca, a beautiful orange color. The palette also has Marrakush, a stunning gold, Desert Baked, a shimmery bronze, Cumin Get It, a clay orange-brown, and Henna Sea, a darker brown.

Pink shades include Sahara Stunna, Quicksand, Saffron, and Spice Trip. The palette also has cooler tones such as Shisha Smoke, Evil Genie, and Souq it 2 Me. Rounding up the 16 shades are Fez Up and Nuts N Dates, both a mauve or purple color.

The formulation is highly pigmented and is sure to last you the entire day. You can find the palette on the Fenty Website or on Sephora.

Haus Laboratories by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to join the beauty industry. Fans were surprised that the singer-songwriter-model-actress didn’t do so earlier.

Well, better late than never.

The initial launch included lip liners, lip glosses, liquid eyeshadows, eyeliners, and eyeliner stickers. The line has since launched its very first eyeshadow palette, and we are fawning over it! Check it out:

Glam Room Palette No. 1: Fame

https://www.instagram.com/p/B63XnflFBst/

Given that the liquid eyeshadows were a hit, we’re excited about Haus Labs’ first palette: aptly titled Fame.

The Glam Room Palette features ten shades. It includes mattes, metallics, sparkles, and shimmers with which you can play around!

Cake is a smooth, light peach color that’s matte, and Applause is a gorgeous pink gold duo-chrome. The red shades include Curtain Call, a metallic color, and Contort, in matte. Scotch is a shimmery metallic deep brown, while Spotlight is a pink champagne color. Cameo is a gorgeous terracotta, and Slipper Room is a pink shimmer with a deep plum mix. Finally, a palette isn’t complete without the black matte eyeshadow, Top Hat.

Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner

Love them or hate them, the Kardashian-Jenners are powerhouses when it comes to brands. The youngest of the sisters has made a name for herself by launching Kylie Cosmetics.

Famous for its always sold-out lip kits, they’ve also launched several other products.

Here’s one of our favorite palettes from the reality star:

The Royal Peach Palette

As she stepped out of her comfort zone, the Royal Peach palette includes shades that aren’t your usual Kardashian nude colors.

Sporting 12 shades, the palette has some neutral colors. However, what surprised many was the inclusion of Royal, a beautiful and bright blue color. Also not your typical shade, Mojito is a light green, and North Star is a purple color.

The other eyeshadows names are:

  • Duchess
  • Sorbet
  • Sandy
  • Seashell
  • Peachy
  • Crush
  • Queen Bee
  • Cinnamon
  • Duke

Whether you’re a fan of these celebrities or not, it’s hard to resist trying out their beauty lines. For fans of makeup, people like Rihanna and Jeffree Star have created strong brands that can compete with established names such as Benefit, Maybelline, and Cover Girl.

Using smart branding and bringing in innovation, it doesn’t seem like celebrity makeup brands are going away anytime soon. We’re excited to see which A-list stars are going to launch in the future!
