Review by Kristine Protopsaltis
I recently had the good fortune of being asked to evaluate Vou Pre’s Aqua Skincare Collection. I won’t make you wait for the results…I loved it! Let me tell you more about it.
The Vou Pre Aqua Collection
The Aqua Collection by Dr. Luchetti is a 3-step hydrating system that leaves your skin feeling soothed and hydrated. The box set includes a melting mask, serum, and cream. All three are silky smooth and leave your skin feeling moistened and saturated with a lightness. It never feels heavy, and once absorbed into the skin, the nourished feeling stays with you all day.
As we age, we all become a bit dryer, and our skin needs even more nutrients during the winter months. With all of the heat in our homes, cars, and offices, it’s no wonder that using our regular skincare regimen is not enough to keep winter’s kiss from ravaging our skin. Staying hydrated inside and out is the perfect way to keep your healthy glow all through the winter months.
Dr. Luchetti’s Aqua Collection is an excellent solution for getting through the harmful winter months, but once you try it, I am pretty sure you’re going to get hooked. Why? Because I have never tried anything quite so surprisingly soothing on my skin. Granted, it’s winter. But once spring rolls around, it’s doubtful I will be able to give up this new slice of heaven.
The Aqua Collection comes nicely packaged in a beautiful box displaying five items:
- 0.3mm Microneedle Roller
- Aqua Melting Mask
- Mask Applicator
- Aqua Hydration Serum
- Aqua Nano Cream
The creams come packaged in jars, and the serum has a dropper for easy application. I will be honest and say that the dropper doesn’t work so well due to the thickness of the serum. It does not pose a problem due to the fact you can swipe your face with the sides of the dropper.
The microneedle roller comes in a protective plastic case. The case is an excellent addition because it is essential to keep your roller clean for the health of your face. You do not want the tiny needles puncturing your skin if they are dirty.
The flat-faced applicator is an excellent tool to use with the melting mask and nano cream. It makes the application of the creams a bit easier, and who doesn’t love matching tools.
Vou Pre’s Aqua Collection is a 4-step process. The Vou Pre website lists the four steps, but I do not think it is essential to do each step in a daily routine. Why? Because it takes too long. The Vou Pre website is not clear as to when each step should be completed, so I have played around with the products and figured out the best time to use them that works well with my skincare routines. I will share my thoughts as we move through each step.
Step 1: Microneedle Roller
Upon receiving the Aqua Collection, I had never used a microneedle roller. I carefully followed the directions and have used the roller on my fine lines. Per the instructions, I use it for 60 seconds on each spot without administering too much pressure on freshly cleansed skin. I usually do four to six places on my face, so I spend roughly six minutes administering the microneedles.
On my first experience using the microneedle roller, I noticed a lot of redness. Since then, the redness has not been quite so intense. While this experience was never painful, I had my misgivings about using any type of needle on my face. Although I haven’t seen the disappearance of my fine lines, I do feel my face looks healthier, and there does seem to be a little more plumpness in the areas I have used the microneedle roller the most.
After doing some further reading on the Vou Pre website, I discovered the microneedle roller, sometimes referred to as a derma roller, has several benefits when used correctly. When the miniature needles prick the surface of the skin, it stimulates the skin’s production of collagen and elastin. Due to the increase in collagen, the skin will appear fuller.
The stimulation you create with the microneedle roller will also ramp up the healing process, which does a couple of things: cell turnover increases, the connective tissues are strengthened, and the old layer of blemished skin cells dry up and peel off. The look of pores may become less visible, as well as fine lines and damaged skin.
When your microneedle roller is not in use, it is smart to store it in its original container. Your roller mustn’t get dirty, so clean properly after every use.
I will continue to use the microneedle roller, but will probably continue to only use it about three times a week, in conjunction with the Aqua Melting Mask, which is our next step…
Step 2: Aqua Melting Mask
Before starting the Aqua Melting Mask, be sure you begin with a clean face and neck. Apply the melting mask to your face and neck and leave on for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, gently massage in the mask using circular motions until water droplets form. Allow the droplets to be absorbed into the skin and don’t rinse off the mask.
The Aqua Melting Mask is smooth and light with a refreshing fragrance. I have used the mask several times now, and I prefer applying it immediately after using the microneedle roller.
After applying the mask, this is a great time to set your timer for 10 minutes and lay down with your eyes closed for a more spa-like experience. I have never had a mask quite so soothing before, and I love the effect it leaves on my skin. I did not experience any water droplets forming, but I did massage into my face and neck after ten minutes as directed by Vou Pre.
The second time I used the Aqua Melting Mask, I did not apply any other product to my face the rest of the day, and honestly, I don’t think I needed anything. Hours after administering the mask, my skin still felt smooth and hydrated without any greasy feeling.
Some of the critical ingredients in the Aqua Melting Mask include:
-
- Dimethicone is a silicone-based oil that can act as a protective cover while smoothing the skin and filling in pores.
- Glycerin gives the skin a soft, smooth appearance.
- Collagen promotes younger, firmer skin.
- Vitamin A stimulates the production of new skin cells.
- Vitamin E helps keep the skin hydrated.
- Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract soothes the skin while acting as an anti-inflammatory agent.
- Extract from the flowers: Onopordum Acanthium, Lavandula Angustifolia, Matricaria antioxidants and anti-inflammatories that soothe, calm, and moisturizes the skin.
- Extract from the fruits: Bilberry, Acai Berry, Goji, Maqui, Chokeberry, Mangosteen, Pomegranate, and Noni. Antioxidants in these extracts provide hydration, conditioning, promoting circulation, and collagen production while healing damaged skin.
Step 3: Aqua Hydration Serum
Again, begin the Aqua Hydration Serum with a cleansed face and neck. Apply 2-3 drops on face and neck, then gently massage in circular motions until fully absorbed.
I found the Aqua Hydration Serum very hydrating. I have tried using it at different times of the day, but I prefer to make it part of my nighttime skincare routine. After cleansing, I follow the application directions. Taking the time to massage your face and neck does help you absorb the serum and helps stimulate the skin. After applying the serum, I wait at least 10 minutes before using the Aqua Nano Cream to make sure my skin has fully absorbed the serum.
Some of the exceptional ingredients in the Aqua Hydration Serum include:
- Dimethicone is a silicone-based oil that can act as a protective cover while smoothing the skin and filling in pores.
- Glycerin gives the skin a soft, smooth appearance.
- Collagen promotes younger, firmer skin
- Soybean Oil helps reverse sun damage, diminish wrinkles, and tighten skin.
- Coconut Oil has antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne, reduce inflammation, and moisturize the skin.
- Meteorite Powder contains minerals to fight the aging process while nourishing the skin.
There isn’t much of a fragrance with the serum, which I think is great since you are using it in conjunction with other products.
Step 4: Aqua Nano Cream
The last step in Vou Pre’s Aqua Collection is the application of the Nano Cream. Per instructions on the Vou Pre website, you apply the Nano Cream on a clean face and neck and massage in circular motions until fully absorbed.
I prefer the Aqua Nano Cream as a night cream. It is so smooth and creamy without the greasy feeling you get from some night creams. I use it after I apply the Aqua Hydration Serum, and again I let it absorb for 10 minutes or so before lying down on a pillow. The cream is rich, but not overly thick. I find the fragrance sweet and refreshing. A little goes a long way, so no need to apply too much.
Some of the unique ingredients in the Aqua Nano Cream include:
- Dimethicone is a silicone-based oil that can act as a protective cover while smoothing the skin and filling in pores.
- Sunflower Seed Oil has antioxidants that protect your skin from the sun, produce collagen and elastin, while fighting against premature signs of aging.
- Avocado Oil hydrates, moisturizes, and softens skin and is also an effective treatment for skin inflammations such as acne.
- Collagen promotes younger, firmer skin.
- Soybean Oil helps reverse sun damage, diminish wrinkles, and tighten skin.
- Coconut Oil has antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne, reduce inflammation, and moisturize the skin.
- Caffeine reduces inflammation and puffiness by constricting blood vessels while tightening and brightening the skin.
- Seaweed Extract works as an anti-inflammatory so it soothes and softens the skin while boosting hydration.
- Lime Extract brightens the skin, helps dissolve excess oils and helps to protect from infections.
More About Vou Pre
Dr. Mary Ellen Luchetti designed the Vou Pre Collections:
- The Intro Collection is the first collection of items that may be purchased individually.
- The Aqua Collection is perfect for those who have drier skin and want to feel a lot of hydration.
- The Cannabis Collection is for anti-aging. Feel dewy and rejuvenated.
- The Thermal Collection is for detoxifying to reinvigorate your skin’s freshness and vitality.
Each skincare system has specific, chosen ingredients due to how well they work together while targeting specific skin needs. All of the ingredients used by Vou Pre are safe and dermatologist-approved, have not been tested on animals, and are paraben-free.
In conclusion, my thoughts are that Vou Pre is great value. While I believe the price is high, you will see and feel the difference compared to over-the-counter products. It’s like comparing silk to rayon. Silk is definitely worth its weight in gold and feels so much better than rayon. Vou Pre is the silk your face has been dying for.
You will get many benefits from investing in a Vou Pre kit. If your skin is dry, then you will love the Aqua Collection. I promise I haven’t experienced anything as rich and luscious for my face as these creams. Regardless of the type of skin you have, you will find the right collection for your skin needs. The melting mask is, by far, my favorite. Is it because I am taking 20 minutes and lying back with some good tunes and making it a “thing”? Maybe, but it also feels pretty incredible. Like I said earlier, I tried it the other day and didn’t add anything else to my face the entire day: no make-up, moisturizers, or sunscreens. Granted, I was in all day, but it was great. Hours later, my skin still felt perfectly hydrated and smooth with absolutely no greasiness.
The hydrating serum and nano creams are exceptional, as well. I have been using them nightly, and I do wake up with my skin still feeling smooth.
As I said earlier, my little lines have not disappeared, yet! I will keep using the microneedle roller and mask three times a week, and hopefully, I will see some lasting results. I am not a person who wants to ever experience or write about invasive procedures, so I will continue fighting the aging process with the remarkable products from Vou Pre.
