Friends at Halloween

Halloween is the one time of year that you can dress as silly as you want and style your hair and makeup however you please—and we’re all for it! Now, you may have mastered an everyday makeup look and a date night makeup look but, as you know, Halloween makeup is a whole other story. To look your best this year, read through the Halloween makeup tips below!

Apply Makeup Base
Always use a base. Whether you’re using your own, everyday makeup kit or costume makeup, you must use a base. This will make it easier to apply all other Halloween makeup and designs.

Choose A Suitable Base
Choose your base accordingly. When applying costume makeup, a pore minimizing primer will work, but would not be the best use of the product or make for an optimal costume. Choose a base the suits your costume. Dressing up as a vampire? Your base should be a foundation that’s a few shades lighter than your everyday foundation. Dressing as Pocahontas? Choose a foundation a few shades darker.

Make Fake Blood
Make non-toxic fake blood in the kitchen. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes! Simply mix three parts corn syrup with one part water. Once it’s completely mixed, add a single drop of red food coloring at time, mixing completely before adding the next drop. Continue to do so until you’ve reached the desired color.

Set Your Look
You know the drill: once you’ve finished, apply a dusting of translucent powder. This won’t disturb any colors or designs, in fact, it will prevent the face paint from sliding and cracking before the night ends. Need an extra matte finish? Set with baby powder—just be careful not to use too much.
